How it works
One search. Your exact vehicle. Every part that fits it.
Kitting out a ute in Australia means trawling dozens of retailer websites, each showing a fraction of what exists, none of them certain whether it fits your vehicle. FITSPEC indexes them together and organises everything around one question: does this fit my rig?
Where the listings come from
We read the product catalogues Australian retailers publish through their affiliate programs. Every listing you see — the title, the price, the image, the fitment — is the retailer's own data. We normalise it so it can be searched side by side, and we send you to their site to buy.
We don't hold stock, set prices, or sell anything ourselves.
How we decide what "fits"
This is the part most sites get wrong, so we're explicit about it:
FITSPEC never claims a part fits your vehicle. We show you which retailer says it does, and we put their name against it.
Australian retailers state fitment in their listings — "to suit Toyota Hilux N80 2015–2018", "Ford Ranger PX3 2018 onwards". We read those statements, structure them, and match them against the vehicle you selected. Every listing then falls into one of three honest states:
The retailer explicitly lists this product as fitting your make, model and year. Their claim, their fitment guarantee.
The retailer lists it for your model but hasn't stated your specific year or series — or lists it for a platform that shares your body. Worth a quick call with your VIN before ordering.
No fitment published that covers your vehicle. We show the product and say so plainly rather than guess on your behalf.
New models are where this matters most. If you've just bought something released this year, most retailers haven't published fitment for it yet — so you'll see more "likely" and "check" than "confirmed". That's the truth of the market, and we'd rather show it than paper over it.
How we make money
Some retailers pay us a commission when you buy through a link. Those listings are tracked; the rest aren't. Three commitments about that:
- Retailers who don't pay us are listed anyway. A list you can't trust is worthless, so completeness beats commission.
- Commission never changes the ranking. Results sort by fitment confidence and price, not by what pays.
- Sponsored placement is always labelled as sponsored, wherever it appears.
The price you pay is the retailer's price. Commission comes out of their margin, never added to your bill.
For retailers
If you sell 4WD, ute or touring accessories in Australia, here's what being indexed on FITSPEC does for you.
You get pre-qualified buyers, not browsers
Everyone arriving at your product page has already selected their exact vehicle and seen that your listing fits it. They're mid-build with a specific job in mind — not price-shopping a generic category.
We send traffic to you, we don't intercept it
Every link goes to your product page on your site. We don't run a checkout, hold carts, collect payment, or re-broker your customers. The sale, the customer relationship and the fitment terms stay entirely yours.
Your fitment claim, attributed to you
We never restate or reinterpret your fitment data. When we show a product as fitting a vehicle, we say you list it that way. Correct your catalogue and our index follows on the next refresh.
Coverage gaps, visible
Because we track which vehicles customers search for against what's actually listed, we can see where demand exists that nobody has published fitment for. If buyers keep searching your category for a vehicle you haven't covered, that's a sale you're not making — and we can tell you about it.
How to get listed
If you run an affiliate program, we'll apply through it. If you don't, we can still index your catalogue from a product feed — unmonetised listings are welcome, because a complete index is the product.

FITSPEC is built and run in Victoria, Australia. It started with a genuinely annoying afternoon: trying to work out what would fit a brand-new ute, visiting more than thirty retailer websites, and giving up without buying anything. The retailers lost that sale. This is the fix.
