Affiliate disclosure
FITSPEC makes money from affiliate commissions. This page explains exactly how, because you're entitled to know that before you click anything.
The short version
- Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission.
- It costs you nothing extra. You pay the retailer's normal price.
- Retailers who pay us nothing are still listed. We index them anyway, so the results are complete.
- Commission does not affect ranking. Results are ordered by fitment confidence and price. That's it.
How FITSPEC makes money
FITSPEC is free to use. We don't charge you, and we don't run display ads that follow you around the internet.
Instead we have affiliate arrangements with some of the Australian retailers listed here, set up through affiliate networks — Commission Factory is the main one. When you click through to a retailer using one of those links and then buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale.
That commission comes out of the retailer's margin. It is not added to your price. You pay exactly what you'd pay if you'd typed the retailer's web address in yourself.
Retailers who pay us nothing are still here
A fitment index is useless if it only shows you the shops that pay. So we list products from retailers we have no commercial relationship with at all.
Some links on this site earn us money. Some earn us nothing. Both kinds sit in the same results, sorted the same way. If a part fits your vehicle and it's in our data, we show it regardless of whether we get paid for it.
Commission does not influence ranking
This is the part that matters most, so we'll be blunt about it. Results are ordered by two things:
- Fitment confidence — how certain the retailer's own product information is that the part suits the exact vehicle you selected.
- Price — as published in the retailer's product feed.
Commission rate is not one of the inputs. A retailer paying us 8% does not get pushed above a retailer paying us nothing. We don't accept payment to move a product up the list, and no retailer can buy a better position in organic results.
Where fitment information comes from
FITSPEC does not decide what fits your vehicle. We read the retailer's own product titles and feed data, work out which vehicles they say the part suits, and attribute that claim back to the retailer.
So the fitment you see here is the retailer's claim, not ours. Feeds contain errors, titles get shortened, and series and variant details get left out. Always confirm fitment with the retailer before you buy — there's more on that in our Terms of use.
What we don't do
- We don't sell anything. There's no checkout on this site, we hold no stock, and we never take your payment.
- We don't publish product reviews or ratings, so there are none to fake.
- We don't hide affiliate links. This page exists, and it's linked from the footer of every page.
- We don't let a commercial relationship change what we tell you about fitment.
Things we may do in future
We'd rather tell you now than surprise you later. Neither of these is live today.
- Sponsored placement. We may in future sell promoted positions in results. If we do, every sponsored item will be clearly labelled as sponsored, where you see it. It won't be dressed up as an organic result.
- Installer and fitter leads. We may in future pass customer enquiries to fitters and installers as paid leads. If we do, we'll say so plainly at the point of enquiry and update our Privacy policy before collecting anything for that purpose.
Why we're telling you this
Australian Consumer Law requires businesses not to mislead you, and the ACCC expects commercial relationships like ours to be disclosed clearly and up front. Affiliate networks require it too. We'd disclose it anyway — an index you can't trust isn't worth building.
