Series codes for the Jeep Wrangler
Australian retailers state fitment by series, not by model name. These are the codes you'll see in listings for this vehicle — the chassis codes in brackets mean the same generation and often appear instead.
Your build plate is the authority — a model can change series part-way through a year, and Australian delivery often lags the global launch. How to find your series.
JK and JL take different parts
The JK ran from 2007 to 2018 and the JL from 2018 onwards. They look related and they are, but the JL changed the chassis, the body mounting and the electrical architecture enough that most bolt-on parts are generation-specific.
As with every 2018-ish changeover, the model year alone doesn't settle it — JK and JL were sold alongside each other for part of that year.
Two-door and four-door are different vehicles for fitment
The Unlimited's longer wheelbase changes sliders, rear bars, roof products and anything dimensioned along the body. A listing that names only JK or JL has told you half of what you need.
Most of this catalogue is imported
The Wrangler aftermarket is overwhelmingly American, which has two consequences worth knowing.
- ADR compliance is not automatic. A bar or a lighting product engineered for the US market may not meet Australian requirements, and the seller may not have checked. Ask directly rather than assuming an Australian retailer has.
- Fitment wording follows US conventions — model years rather than build dates, and trim names that don't map neatly to Australian delivery.
Rubicon differs from the rest
Different axles, different suspension, different track in places. Treat Rubicon-specific parts as a separate line from standard JK or JL parts.
What to give the retailer
JK or JL, two-door or four-door, the build date, and the trim. And on anything forward-facing, ask about ADR compliance in writing.
How to be sure a part actually fits
Fitment on this page is the retailer's own claim, shown with their name against it. FITSPEC doesn't assess or guarantee fitment.
This page covers every year of the Jeep Wrangler, from 2007 to 2026. That is deliberate — it is a page about the vehicle, not about one model year — but it means a part listed here may suit a different generation from yours. Each card prints the years the retailer stated, and the index filters to your exact year.
- Confirmed fit — the retailer named this vehicle, by series or by year, rather than the model alone.
- Likely fit — they list it for this model without saying which years or series it covers.
Series and generation matter more than most people expect. A part cut for one generation frequently won't bolt to the next, even though the badge on the tailgate hasn't changed. If you're spending real money, quote your VIN to the retailer before you order.
