The 2020 change was total
The RC and RT generations ran from 2012 to 2020. The RG arrived in 2020 on a new platform, with a new cab, new front end and new electrical architecture.
Very little crosses over. Bars, sliders, canopies, suspension and lighting brackets are all generation-specific, and the styling change was obvious enough that most retailers do label this one clearly — which is not the same as all of them.
The BT-50 relationship runs one way in time
From 2020 the Mazda BT-50 TF is built on the RG D-MAX platform, so parts frequently cross between them and retailers often list them together. Before 2020 they were unrelated — the older BT-50 was Ranger-based.
So "suits D-MAX and BT-50" means something quite different depending on the year, and a listing that doesn't state years is ambiguous in a way that matters.
The MU-X is only half a sibling
The MU-X shares the D-MAX front end but is a wagon behind the B-pillar. Front bars, bash plates and lighting often cross over. Anything touching the rear, the roof or the body sides does not.
What to give the retailer
Series — RC, RT or RG — plus the build date and cab configuration. On the RG, also say whether yours is a tray or a tub, because rear-mounted parts differ.
