Series codes for the Mazda BT-50
Australian retailers state fitment by series, not by model name. These are the codes you'll see in listings for this vehicle — the chassis codes in brackets mean the same generation and often appear instead.
Your build plate is the authority — a model can change series part-way through a year, and Australian delivery often lags the global launch. How to find your series.
The BT-50 changed families in 2020
This is the most useful thing to know about the vehicle, and almost nobody says it plainly.
The BT-50 up to 2020 was built on Ford Ranger underpinnings, and shared a great deal with the PX-series Ranger. The TF generation from 2020 is built on the Isuzu D-MAX platform and shares with the RG D-MAX instead.
So a 2019 BT-50 and a 2021 BT-50 are related to two entirely different vehicles. Parts that cross over from one direction do not cross from the other, and a search that turns up "suits Ranger and BT-50" is describing the old one whether it says so or not.
What that means in practice
For a TF (2020 onwards): parts listed for the RG D-MAX of the same years are frequently the same part, and retailers often list them together. Confirm rather than assume — Mazda's front-end styling differs from Isuzu's, so bars and grille-adjacent parts are usually still model-specific even where the chassis is shared.
For a pre-2020 BT-50: look at PX and PX2 Ranger listings, with the same caution. The tub and rear are more Mazda-specific than the front.
What to give the retailer
The year, and whether yours is the TF. On this vehicle more than most, platform ancestry decides what fits.
Vehicles people confuse with the Mazda BT-50
A shared platform is not shared parts, and a shared badge is not a shared vehicle. Both are worth knowing before you order.
How to be sure a part actually fits
Fitment on this page is the retailer's own claim, shown with their name against it. FITSPEC doesn't assess or guarantee fitment.
This page covers every year of the Mazda BT-50, from 2011 to 2026. That is deliberate — it is a page about the vehicle, not about one model year — but it means a part listed here may suit a different generation from yours. Each card prints the years the retailer stated, and the index filters to your exact year.
- Confirmed fit — the retailer named this vehicle, by series or by year, rather than the model alone.
- Likely fit — they list it for this model without saying which years or series it covers.
Series and generation matter more than most people expect. A part cut for one generation frequently won't bolt to the next, even though the badge on the tailgate hasn't changed. If you're spending real money, quote your VIN to the retailer before you order.
