Series codes for the Volkswagen Amarok
Australian retailers state fitment by series, not by model name. These are the codes you'll see in listings for this vehicle — the chassis codes in brackets mean the same generation and often appear instead.
Your build plate is the authority — a model can change series part-way through a year, and Australian delivery often lags the global launch. How to find your series.
Two Amaroks, and they share nothing
The 2H ran from 2011 to about 2022 and was Volkswagen's own design — its own chassis, its own suspension, its own body. The Amarok from 2022 onwards is built alongside the Ford Ranger Next Gen and shares that platform.
This is the cleanest example on the site of why a model name is not a vehicle. A 2021 Amarok and a 2023 Amarok are unrelated machines with the same badge.
What it means for parts
For the current Amarok: Ranger Next Gen (P703) parts are often the same part, and where they aren't, they're usually closely related. The front-end styling is Volkswagen's, so bars and grille-adjacent parts stay model-specific.
For the 2H: the aftermarket is European-influenced and thinner in Australia than the utes it competes with. Very few parts cross to anything else, and a "fits Amarok" listing written after 2022 may well mean the new one.
The 2H had its own splits
Single and dual cab differ, and the 2016 facelift with the V6 changed the front bumper and cooling package. Bars fitted to the earlier four-cylinder cars don't always suit the V6.
What to give the retailer
Whether yours is the 2H or the current one, and the build date. On a 2022 vehicle in particular, say which — the changeover ran through that year.
Vehicles people confuse with the Volkswagen Amarok
A shared platform is not shared parts, and a shared badge is not a shared vehicle. Both are worth knowing before you order.
How to be sure a part actually fits
Fitment on this page is the retailer's own claim, shown with their name against it. FITSPEC doesn't assess or guarantee fitment.
This page covers every year of the Volkswagen Amarok, from 2011 to 2026. That is deliberate — it is a page about the vehicle, not about one model year — but it means a part listed here may suit a different generation from yours. Each card prints the years the retailer stated, and the index filters to your exact year.
- Confirmed fit — the retailer named this vehicle, by series or by year, rather than the model alone.
- Likely fit — they list it for this model without saying which years or series it covers.
Series and generation matter more than most people expect. A part cut for one generation frequently won't bolt to the next, even though the badge on the tailgate hasn't changed. If you're spending real money, quote your VIN to the retailer before you order.
