The Cannon and the Cannon Alpha are different vehicles
This needs saying first because the names are so close. The Cannon arrived in Australia in 2021. The Cannon Alpha is a larger, heavier, separate vehicle launched later. Parts are not interchangeable, and listings abbreviate both to "Cannon".
If a listing says "Cannon" and the price looks like Alpha money, ask.
The aftermarket is young, and that's the honest picture
GWM volume in Australia has grown quickly and the accessory catalogue is still catching up. Expect:
- Fewer listings than an equivalent HiLux or Ranger, and more gaps in categories that are crowded for the established utes.
- More "check fitment" on this site than on other vehicles, because fewer retailers have published series-level fitment for it.
- Specialist suppliers carrying more of the range than the big generalists — some retailers have built their business specifically around GWM and BYD fitment.
None of that is a reflection on the vehicle. It's what a five-year-old nameplate looks like in an aftermarket that took two decades to build out around Toyota and Ford.
What to give the retailer
Cannon or Cannon Alpha, stated in full, plus the build date and the variant. Being explicit about which one matters more here than on almost anything else, because the names invite the error.
